The price and power costs for a single Raspberry Pi are neglectable, but it’s definitely convenient to just maintain one single device, even if you want to run multiple Dockerized server instances in parallel. Not only that you already have a reliable permanent disk storage available that can be mounted by containers, it also saves you the money and the power costs to run separate devices within your household (e.g.: a Raspberry PI). There are many reasons why I think that Synology Diskstation NAS devices are a perfect solution, but one of the most outstanding features definitely is their capability to run any kind of Docker images directly on your Network Attached Storage (NAS). Host your Home Assistant Docker instance in a Synology Diskstation In case the newer version runs well - fine, otherwise stick to the running version until you figure out why the newer version does not work as expected. Just spin up the new instance version without any risk and test it with your existing config. You can test the newer version already without breaking your running Home Assistant instance. This helps a lot while upgrading to a new major software version. One other huge benefit of running HASS in a Docker container is that you can run multiple different versions of the same configuration in parallel. ![]() I first started to install Home Assistant on my Raspberry Pi but quickly switched to running it in a Docker container, as it is much more flexible when it comes to the upgrade process.Īs a Home Assistant instance only depends on a local folder of configuration YAML files, it’s easier to run it in a Docker container than to hassle around with its Python library dependencies. One huge advantage that comes with Home Assistant, is its super light footprint and its ability to run in a standalone Docker container! Each dashboard can contain all kinds of information and action tiles that either show important information or allow you to control one of your devices preferably using MQTT protocol. You can create and switch between multiple dashboards which are completely customizable. See below an example of my own Home Assistant dashboard that is configured to give me quick access to my most important Ikea power switches as well as to show the latest weather report for my region.Īn integration with my Fronius solar power converter allows me to review my solar power gain in real time while checking my door cam for visitors. Research has linked several notable behavior sets with empathic listening. It occurs when someone not only tries to understand the message, but also judge it’s validity and worth, whether to accept it or not (Gamble & Gamble, 2018). Critical listening often happens in addition to comprehensive listening. Similar type of listening also happens in lectures, when students listen to the professor talk with the objective of gaining knowledge. For example, when a person is lost and asks for directions, therefore, they try to comprehend the directions given. Moreover, this type of listening can occur in public speaking also, when audience is listening to something traumatic that the speaker went through.Ĭomprehensive listening occurs when one tries to comprehend speaker’s words. It is mostly used in interpersonal relationships, when a partner tries to understand what another person is going through. Empathic listening is the practice of being attentive and responsive to others’ input during conversation. It helps people come to terms and develop a clearer prospective on the situations they face. This paper will evaluate and analyze four types of listening, appreciative, empathic, comprehensive and critical. Its about understanding them emotionally, as well as intellectually. Listening is a system of interrelated components, inclusive of both mental processes and observable behaviors, and occurring in six stages: hearing, understanding, remembering, interpreting, evaluating, and responding. Appreciative listening is one through which we listen without paying attention, in a relaxed way, seeking pleasure or inspiration. Empathic listening is not about agreeing with somebody. ![]() If ClientHello has an Encrypt-Then-Mac extension, the server will compute the MAC after encrypting the data. For some people, this blandness could be a blessing, even if the mattresses themselves are nothing special. In fact, Matt Clift, the executive vice president of operations for Resident, Nectar’s parent company, told me the aim was for Nectar’s mattresses to garner the same number of “too soft” reviews as “too firm” ones, in order to satisfy the most people. The mattresses feel like the median of every modern bed-in-a-box out there-they’re clearly engineered for the masses. Perhaps the most distinctive feature of Nectar mattresses is, well, their lack of any distinctive features. If you’ve seen Nectar mattress ads preceding YouTube videos or flooding your social media feeds, you’re not alone. This is something other kids tablets don’t have. I love Learn First… because now they have to do their reading time first, then it’s app time. Setting the “Learn First” requirement is something I recently set up because I noticed that the apps were really enticing and as children, it’s hard to stay on track. My 5 year old has 15 minutes of reading a day (most of the time that includes reading time with me too because she can’t read on her own yet.) Once they do that, they can move on to playing with their apps. My 10 and 12 year old children have 30 minutes of independent reading a day. Below is an example of my 5 year old’s settings. Once they reached that 30 minutes of reading a day, they then unlock their app playtime. For example, I can set a timer for the children to do 30 minutes of reading daily.
